campfire
I love a campfire. If you visit our property, you would know this because there is a fire pit for every occasion.

We have a stone fireplace, made from big granite cobbles, for serious fires. We have a chiminea on the back deck, perfect for a quick fire in spring or summer. And now I have a metal fire pit on the front lawn.

Fire is insubstantial yet so powerful. It can be dangerous but soothing. When I sit in front of a fire, watching the flames, I feel I am sharing community with every person who has ever tended a campfire.

I like how you have a “fire pit for every occasion.” I don’t think that we’ve had a campfire since the kids left home–and this post makes me miss them.

Hi Sheryl. No time like the present to revive an old favorite! Jane

We LOVE a campfire also. We used to have one every night in Waverley (honestly) ,,winter was the best for us. But now we have very little windfall and we won’t buy wood to burn outside. So now we just have one here and there and believe me,,,we miss it.! I LOVE it when we lose power because I love cooking over an open fire. The heck with our generator.! Something to be said about that rocking chair right beside that firepot. And those marshmallows roasting,,,,oh my,,I cannot think of anything better Jane. I love your idea of different firepits for different occasions.! Philip has a barrell for the big stuff and then our cast iron pit for the love of it,,,I think I will get one for our patio. Cool,,,,thanks for that idea.

Hi Patsi. Fires make November a little less drab. I even have an app on my tablet to let me know if fires are permitted for any given day! Jane
