California #2 – loving limes

with 4 comments

Since I am a botanist, it is no surprise – one of my favorite experiences in California was seeing the vegetation.  Lime, orange and lemon trees were everywhere.  One of the best lime trees was in my brother’s yard.  It had more limes than leaves!  It was en route to their new restaurant, 1226 Washington, opening soon in Calistoga.

  1. Hi Jane. Your painting of limes is beautiful. I can almost smell them. 🙂

    • Hi Robin. Thanks! The tree was just loaded. I think my brother and sister-in-law plan to use the limes in their restaurant. Jane

  2. Hi Jane, love your painting of the limes! We planted a lime tree last weekend- my husband loves ‘lemon, lime & soda’ in the summer. We are in Sydney, which has a similar climate to California. Hopefully it will look something like your brother’s tree in a few years. Stephanie.

    • Hi Stephanie. I’ve never been to Australia but I took a short virtual trip around Brisbane where my brother once lived. I saw the palm trees and tropical vegetation I saw in California. In my living room I have a lemon tree my mother planted. I find it hard to remember to water it (it seems to need watering about twice as often as all my other plants). No lemons yet! Jane
