My trip on the 19th day of my virtual journey through Cornwall took me along the Porthpean Beach Road. The houses along the road came in many architectural styles. One, a stone house, made a charming roofline over the hedges around it …

Best View: sailboats in dock at Porthpean Beach … I did two versions of this. #1 is my favorite, but I painted the scene too literally and made the masts of the boats curved (as they appear in the Street View camera lens)! I corrected this in #2, but I don’t like the colors as well …

Hi. A lot of the stone homes I see are raw stone but many have used the whitewash. I’ve seen quite a few pink-painted stone as well. Jane

Lovely, especially the watercolours. When you eventually see these places “in the flesh” will you be disappointed, Jane?!

Hi Jane. Thanks. I think that’s a good question. I think seeing the places I have been to on Street View would always be better in person. For one thing, the image is there, but the smells, feel of the wind, the tastes and the sounds are all missing. I would also like to get a decent look at the plants I am seeing along the way!!!! Jane
