trying to glimpse the beach 6-10

Biking from one town to the next on Ile de Ré, I know the beach and the ocean are just ‘over there’, but a berm, a dune and a sea-wall prevent any good views …

road along beach near Le Martray on Ile de Ré – beach is across the berm to the right (image from Street View)

Once in a while, I catch a glimpse of the beach through a private yard …

On the right side of the road, facing inland, I have excellent views of the salt marsh …

A large area of these marshes are dedicated to producing salt …

I also see the extensive vineyards I have encountered elsewhere on the island …

Best View: grapes ripe on the vine …

Once again, I love your Best View. I also like the pines in the first street view. The Google people passed us on the road yesterday. I wonder if we showed up on a street view?

Hi Robin. Awesome. Perhaps I’ll get to ‘talk’ to you on one of my virtual conversations. I wonder what you’ll say!!!! 🙂 Jane

Thank goodness you’re virtual biking! It looked like an awfully lot of traffic on a narrow road in the one picture–and I’d worry if you were actually on that road.

Hi. You are absolutely right. In general, the ‘traffic’ hasn’t been bad – probably since I took back roads and Street View photographs in the early morning. But the traffic on Ile de Re has been noticeably busy. Jane
