winter reading

with 8 comments

Today in New Brunswick, it’s just a little colder than yesterday. Leaves are falling from the trees and there are lots of bare branches against the blue sky. Yesterday I switched our thermostats to auto mode. And yesterday we stopped at a roadside stand to buy a small store of pickles and jams for winter eating.

My pile of winter reading is also growing. I am looking forward to days by the fire reading many of our New Brunswick authors.

I can add to your winter reading pile in a couple of ways:

~

This book includes 73 of my poems about plants and animals living in the vicinity of 35 of our covered bridges in New Brunswick.  The book also includes 21 of my drawings of bridges and wild life. To enter for the draw, just leave a comment on any of my blog posts at http://www.nichepoetryandprose.wordpress.com or the Facebook posting. one entry per person per post.

I would have loved to have seen Michael’s face when you gave that to him. One lucky family you have jane. OK,,,i am off to read more. Have a good one. 20 degrees it is supposed to be today here in N.S. Patsi.

  2. Hi Jane! It’s still warm here so it was nice to see the snow in your first picture. Nice and cooling. 🙂 I am looking forward to winter, and having more time for things like reading and relaxing.

  3. Sounds cozy! Our weather keeps flip floping from cool to hot. It’s hard to know what to put the thermostat on.

  4. Hello Jane – enjoy everything you write about! I especially enjoyed hearing about your road trip to find where Thornton W. Burgess spent time in New Brunswick. This author is very special to me as my father read “The Adventures of…” series of his books to me at bedtime on the weekends, stories about common everyday animals who led exciting and adventurous lives. I hadn’t known this about him until your post. Thank you

    • Hi Barbara! Great to hear from you. I think the Burgess stories were a part of the upbringing of Canadian kids. Glad you are entered in the draw!
