poetry and prose about place

California #1

with 10 comments

Spent last week in California!  The Streets of San Francisco.  Trolleys.  Wharves.  Sight seeing boats.  Sight-seeing buses. Alcatraz and the Presidio.  The Golden Gate Bridge.  Star Fleet Academy -well, the site where it will be built!

Then to Calistoga in wine country.  Tours of wineries, a cable car, a trip to an African Safari park, giant Redwoods, and The Pacific Ocean!  Had lots of fun!

My camera ran out of batteries, but my son took lots of photos, so I’ll be sharing these in future …

  1. Ah, yes! Calistoga. Can anyone tell me: wasn’t that the place which inspired that great hit by Connie Francis – ‘Where the Geyser”?

    • Hi Neil. You always make me laugh. Yes, I’m sure that was the inspiration for the song. We didn’t get to see the geyser, lots to do, little time. Jane

  2. How wonderful! I love San Francisco, and it sounds like you might have traveled to the same spots I visited on my one trip out that way. Did you see the geyser in Calistoga?

    • Hi Robin. No. My brother suggested it but there were so many things to chose from! Calistoga is a charming town. Jane
