Happy Halloween
In Canada, October is a month for celebration. We have our Thanksgiving in mid-October, and, on the 31st, Halloween.
I have a few Halloween-themed post cards. I display these over our fireplace, on a string, attached by clothespins. They make a festive banner to complement the orange pumpkins and other decorations.
Halloween symbols are spooky…
but some witches are not so terrifying….
and the light of a Jack-o-lantern helps make the paths less eerie…
Happy Halloween!!!!

These are wonderful, Jane! I have some old Christmas postcards that are similar (except for the spookiness).

Hi. I have many postcards, but only a few in seasonal themes. I love the art work on them. I use them to decorate during the holidays. Jane

Hi. I’ve been inspired to buy a few new ones this year. Halloween post cards are rarer than others and therefore pricey. Jane

Thanks. I think I will leave the creative talent to Jane but I am glad I can bring a smile. Maybe the spontaneous poet will show his work again some day. I will enjoy the evening and am glad to know others will too. Stan

The old Halloween cards are awesome. I can’t decide whether my favorite is the one with the boy carving the pumpkin or the one with the adorable little witch.

Hi. I like the pumpkin carving boy, just because it is a post card that belonged to my grandmother. jane

halloween is a special time of year
but now it just brings a tear
i recall a very special night
when we dressed up to create a fright
a figure eight we planned with our pillow case
to fill one bag and empty half way at home base
i recall early ones with my mom or sister I did roam
later I could go out by myself around our home
the treats I would catelog and eat slowly so they would last
because they were the only treats we got in my past
i remember the sad day I could not go out again
I guess staying a kid too long is a sin
then I had my own treaters I could take out for trick or treat
so many spokes and goblins again I would meet
what joy it was to relive with my kids the memories of the past
oh I sometimes wish those times could always last
so this halloween as we have adult fun
I guess my days of treating are done
yet new ways to celebrate this All Hallows’ eve I will find
and as I carve my pumkin I will know in my mind
that the day we stop being a kid it will be
not much of a life at all dont you see
so stay young and enjoy this very special event
this life we live , we really only really rent

Hi. The ‘spontaneous poet’ ought to have his own website, he is so good. Thank you for the memories. I remember trying to make the bag of treats last ’til Christmas, but failing miserably! Jane
