a glimpse of dragon
I shall be looking for some of these and seeing if I can identify them from your drawings: you have opened a new window onto the world for me. Thank you so much!

Hi. I try to be accurate, but identification can be tricky! You’ll have to invest in a Peterson’s Field Guide if you get serious about plant identification!

Cheers Jane – I love to draw too – will follow and share your site for inspiration for our group – the group of people on our site meet once a week for a drawing workshop – we are heading into our very hot summer now – a good time to keep cool inside and do some drawing – love seeing other people’s drawings of where they live – nice connection hey – i will look forward to seeing you next series of drawings – regards Julie

Hi Julie. Neat idea. I belong to a couple of writing groups but I hadn’t thought of a drawing group. Great. Hope you post some of the collective work! Jane

I am loving your drawings Jane. What type of pencils do you use? I am doing a garden design course and I seriously need to improve my drawing!

Hi Natalie. My main tools are heavy weight white drawing paper, HB pencils, Q-tips for the shading, a fine eraser to do white highlights, and a fat makeup brush to remove the eraser waste so I won’t blurr the drawing. I am self-taught so there may be other tools. A garden design course sounds like fun. I’d think some tracing paper and a good quality metal ruler would help you too. I took a correspondance course in garden design years ago and loved it. Have fun! Jane

I’ve just started learning to identify wildflowers. If I get stumped, can I send you a picture? Your drawings are great.

Hi Stephanie. Yes, if you can’t identify something, I’ll have a look at a photo and see if I know what it is. Sometimes the plants are different from place to place, but I can at least give you a clue. Thanks for your comment on my drawings. Jane

Thanks! By separating the drawings into separate galleries, the downloads don’t take so long and I can get some perspective on my success with various types of drawings. Jane
