I like the touches of color in butterfly and moose feeding: such a tremendous contrast with the chiaro-oscuro of the linear image. I also like the antler, held out like an old man’s hand, and the antler shadow-game that follows.

Touches of colour liven the drawings, but, I found out, make reproduction of the drawings in book format more expensive!

love your drawings some of those birds i could id before I saw the caption below it, like the red eyed vireo, the goldfinch, the great blue heron was very well done, the squirrels were really cute, I like to call them squirrelys! when I see them outside and my dog knows what i am talking about and goes crazy.

I’ve just come across your blog, Jane. It’s full of life. I love it. I especially love your drawings of the heron and the groundhog, and all the info about wild edible plants.
Thanks for sharing all this stuff with the whole wide world!

That Nov. 29 Goldfinch is gorgeous. All the drawings are wonderful. It must be great to be in a place where you can observe so much wildlife. In that goldfinch you captured a motion that tells more about the bird than even the drawing.

Hi. Thank you for your praise. I am happy to have found your work too. I am lucky to live in a rural area with lots of woods. Jane

Where I live it is all fast becoming “city” without the amenities of city life. It seems that too many people are trying to cram too big ideas into too small a space. It is called the “Quiet Corner” but the traffic these days drowns out any sounds of nature.

Hi. Your drawings show you are able to bring some experience of nature into your urban space. I haven’t ever lived in a big city mostly because of noise. Jane

When we moved here you could hear all the night sounds of the woods. Now you can only hear traffic sounds. I guess I’ve been drawing so long my hands know more than my eyes do. 🙂

Hi. Thanks for your praise! Birds provide so much material to work with since they have endless ‘poses’ and personalities. Jane
